MSDS Update Services

Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) can be a nightmare for most companies. Keeping track of current sheets, updating them and archiving old sheets can and does create a compliance headache.

With violations for MSDS being one of the top ten OSHA citations (2006 Federal OSHA Report) CMI has developed a unique approach to assisting our clients.

CMI uses a multi-phase approach:

  1. Inventory chemicals at your facility or jobsite.
  2. Inventory current MSDS book.
  3. Remove and archive inactive chemical sheets.
  4. Update active chemical sheets from the manufacturers.
  5. MSDS are organized and cross reference tables are developed listing sheets by manufacturers and chemical names. This allows for quick employee access.
  6. All sheets are issued a unique number and are computerized in PDF format.
  7. Clients are provided with an updated MSDS book, cross reference charts and everything on CD in PDF format.

CMI has used this approach with small clients (under 100 MSDS) to large clients (800-1200 MSDS) with very positive results.

Ongoing update services ensure MSDS stay current and takes the burden off company personnel in keeping the sheets and books in compliance with OSHA requirements.

See our Chemical Quick Reference Sheets and PPE Selection Charts in this section to further enhance your company’s chemical safety.
